Captain John Canning III

Hey there! My name is John Canning III, a 5th generation charter captain and a Hatteras Island native. I began fishing with my dad at a very young age, and working by 10. For a few years I would clean fish at odens dock and clean the local charter boats. By 14 I was ready to venture off and go charter fishing! I began mating for my dad on his 51 footer “Reliance” spending our days trolling for numerous pelagic species and bottom fishing. Along the way I have spent time filling in on numerous other boats and fishing tournaments through out the mid-Atlantic and South Eastern. 


At the age of 18 I recieved my 6-passenger captains license. Shortly after I pursued my career of charter fishing by purchasing the 26 foot “Hook up.” I am very excited about this new adventure and can not wait to take you to make memories to last a life time!
